Cartoonist Dan Piraro was born and raised in the United States. Piraro was awarded the Humane Society's Genesis Award for Outstanding Cartoonist of 2002 for his animal rights-themed cartoons. He has been vegan for 5 years and donates profits from his Bizarro on-line store - which features his cartoons on t-shirts, posters and greeting cards - to animal rights causes.
